Why did we have class yesterday?

Did anyone forget the fact it was President’s day? How else are we supposed to recognize the invaluable contributions of such great Americans as Rutherford B. Hayes, Franklin Pierce, and Warren G. Harding?

I can’t believe I almost forgot William Henry Harrison.

Reminds me of my favorite Simpson's quote: when they have the irrelevant President's Day Parade and WHH sings "I'm William Henry Harrison. I died in 30 days!"

Presidents, Schmesidents. What I want to know is why we have to have class on Ash Wednesday. It seems to me that the administration wants to keep everyone in school for entertain purposes. All the non-ashen people can ask the few observing the same questions all day long: "Why do you get ashes?" "Why do you have to keep the ashes on all day long? We don't want to see it" [yes, someone actually said that to me] "Are you Catholic [gasp]?" or my personal favorite: "You forgot to wash your face today [snicker]."

After yesterday, I think I'm going to give up going to school for Lent.

I think what was even better was the free lunch on the day of fasting.

Anon2, you should have seen/heard the reaction I saw Linda Alba give a student. Let's just say not politically correct.
