Legal Research I

Over the last few months, I’ve done quite a bit of research, for school, work, help friends, and just general curiosity. I’ve decided to share some of the more noteworthy things I’ve found.

For example, my career choices were significantly lowered once I found Texas Government Code 87.012 and 87.013. Turns out quite a few county officials (including district attorneys, county judges, sheriffs, and hide inspectors, can be removed for intoxication regardless of whether or not you are on duty. Damn.

This is not legal research, but I just have to give my $0.02.

After reading this article, I couldn't help but wonder, what 16 year old gets an allowance. You;re 16 damn years old! if you want a $500 phone, get a job. So, what kind of 16 year old gets an allowance, the same kind of spoiled shit who stands in like for 8 hours with his grandmother.

Is this a calling?

At work a big case is coming to a head. What’s interesting is in looking at previous lawyers and firms who have been involved in the case. The case has been going on for around two decades and probably a few dozen lawyers have touched it at various points on various sides for various issues.

Out of sheer curiosity, I’ve Googled some of them. Two (of three) firms are no longer in existence. Some of the attorneys are still around, but the subject matter of this case is no longer their specialty. A few are no longer lawyers. My favorite is the one who left the legal profession to become a chef. I told my boss about my findings and she commented “Of course. People don’t last long in this field. It will eat you up.”

Disheartening.

Yea SBA!!!

I received an email today that my locker has practically been condemned. This sucks. What sucks even more is that I already renewed it, it’s in a place that’s convenient for me, and it where my friends have their lockers.

Why are they doing this? Apparently it has just come to the attention of the LAW school that the restrooms adjacent to the lounge are not ABA compliant.

So… they’ve been like that for how many years now? Now, all of a sudden, they have to comply with the ADA.

More proof of the worthlessness of the SBA.

I.S.O.

To all (both) my regular readers: I am in search of a certain alcohol and am hoping for some help. There is a certain alcohol named “Less” and it’s not available at any liquor stores near my house. It’s very important that I find this. For a long time people have told me I need to drink Less. Now my Dr. is telling me I need to drink Less, but I can’t find it. Help.
