Law students have a reputation for being pretty high-strung, loving to argue, and refusing to concede damn near anything. How fair is that reputation, given my current state of mind, I don’t think I’m in any position to make that judgment.
Law Reviews and Journals tend to attract the “best” law students, so… you make your own conclusion on how the previous sentence relates to this one.
As for the people who are chosen to lead these organizations… again, make your own conclusion.
When you put the heads of all of these leaders in the same room and try to get them to agree to any sort of change, it’s just asking for trouble (and a three hour meeting). I didn't realize that what would actually happen was pretty close to what I suggested in my previous post.
That being said, due to some crazy series of events, a person who probably had no business being at this meeting was there – me.
Chup has done a great job of covering the events, but he left out the best quote of the meeting. From Dean Albright: “due to this, I learned all about blogs.” Other than that, I cant add anything. If you want to know what happened over there, check out the Goat Sucker’s site.

Dean Albright didn't know about all of the student blogs? I can only imagine that she isn't very impressed if this was her first introduction...
Did you honestly think the engineers would agree to anything? No, they didn't agree, last I heard it will be decided with a best 2 of 3 paper/rock/scissors contest. The constants are to be the senior note editor for each journal.
What was the room that they were all fighting over? I'm guessing the current TILJ office. In which case, why shouldn't TILJ stay there?
TILJ is loosing the palace they once occupied. Chup, sorry, I misread your post. If I remember right, TIPLJ and TILJ were the only ones that didn't play with others.
So what's the new lineup for office space?
Actually, sources tell me TIPLJ offered an alternative that would let TILJ have the largest space. We'll just have to wait and see if it's accepted.
Easy for me to say because I've got my foot out the door, but:
Ease off of each other, and by that I mean your fellow law students and journals.
Save it for the people who deserve it. Which means various and sundry deans. They decided to have you play "Lord of the Flies" with each other to distract from how much y'all are getting screwed.
Ex Coll, you left out the journal that smartly participated in the meeting by helping the others work things out, all the while directing attention away from its own space, which it kept without challenge.
Good point. If you and I are thinking of the same journal, they were very active and did try to keep their space off the table, but their space was not uncontested. Other journals openly expressed interest in it (I can think of two off the bat). The Journal in question had a good leader who did a good job of keeping the Journal's interests protected.
We must be thinking of the same journal, as it's the only one you left off your wrap-up of where everyone ended up. I didn't realize their office was requested by other journals (I kind of zoned out after the first hour of negotiations). But I definitely agree they have a great incoming EiC--I think she was the one that convinced everyone to just work it out at the meeting rather than waiting.
You're right. I did leave them off. Sorry to them. She wasn't the only one wanting to wrap it up, but was the most vocal about it.

If I remember correctly the final tally was as follows (sorry for not having Room numbers:
THJLP and TJW&L sharing the office currently occupied by THJLP.
Crim and TROL will share the large meeting area now occupied by TILJ and split the 6 private offices in there.
TROLP and Oil & Gas are staying put.
Environmental is getting the small office where the Constitution Society is now and possibly the adjacent small office.
The Sports & Entertainment is getting the medium size space across from TLR.
Environmentalists are staying put in their cozy loft on the 2nd floor.
TIPLJ and TILJ are fighting over the spaces currently occupied by Crim and TJW&L.
That should be everyone.
